Mihai Grecu has developed a unique visual language in video art using both traditional and contemporary visual aesthetics and techniques to create pieces of art of an eerie beauty, with calm yet disturbing scenes and characters in a suspense-like state, like under a bell jar or in a vacuum state of existential angst. After studying Fine Art at Cluj-Napoca (1999-2003) and Strasbourg (2004-2006), Mihai Grecu went to Le Fresnoy Studio National d’Art Contemporain (2006-2008) where he created his most recent works Coagulate and UNLITh. His videos have been shown internationally (Rotterdam, Oslo, Sao Paolo, Berlin), the Videonale (Bonn), and in Dec. 2008 at the Grand Palais (Paris).
Art Claims Impulse showed Mihai Grecu’s newest work at the Video Art Fair "LOOP" Barcelona, 2009.
Mihai Grecu lives and works in Paris.
