Is a re-interpretation of ‘The Bath House’, the 1930’s Constructivist play written by Vladimir Mayakovsky and directed by Vesevolod Meyerhold, which satirises state bureaucracy. Filming took place in Royal Commonwealth Pool, Edinburgh marking its closure for renovation. Henna used the parallels between the content, title and visual resemblance of the theatre set and the Royal Commonwealth Pool’s diving platforms as a starting point for her commission. Edinburgh Junior Diving Club members performed as actors. Half way through The Bathhouse the actors rebel and take control of the direction. This process is paralleled in Halonen’s re-interpretation.
