Julius von Bismarck’s works are located at the intersection between art, science and technology, focussing on perception, documentation and manipulation of the urban space. He creates unique objects that he uses for performances and interventions. His usage of contemporary technology is both subversive and future oriented. Von Bismarck re-codes and re-writes our environment with his objects, interweaving aspects from our cultural and scientific heritage with contemporary codes of expression, thinking and behaviour.
After art studies in Berlin and New York, he is now completing his art education at the Institute of Space Experiments with Prof. Olafur Eliasson at the Universität der Künste in Berlin. His work has already been widely exhibited internationally, such as at the Kiasma Museum of Modern Art in Helsinki and has featured at New Media Art Festivals in Europe such as the Transmediale in Berlin and the Ars Electronica in Linz, where he recently received the ‘Golden Nica Interactive Art Award’ for his art piece Image Fulgurator.
