Shir Handelsman ist ein multidisziplinärer Künstler, geboren 1989. Er lebt und arbeitet in Tel Aviv und schloss 2018 sein BFA-Studium an der Abteilung für multidisziplinäre Kunst des Shenkar College ab. Shir begann seine berufliche Laufbahn als Musiker, Saxophonist und Performer. Er wirkte in verschiedenen Ensembles und Jazzorchestern mit und komponierte Musik für Theaterproduktionen. Nach dem Abschluss seines Militärdienstes als ausgezeichneter Musiker (2010) begann Shir sein BA-Studium in
Literatur und Philosophie an der Universität Tel Aviv, das er mit Auszeichnung abschloss (2013).

Shir ist Empfänger eines Exzellenzstipendiums der America-Israel Cultural Foundation (2018), Preisträger für den besten Experimentalfilm des Budapest Independent Film Festivals, Ungarn (2020) und Gewinner des Grand Prix der 27. Slawonischen Biennale, Museum der Schönen Künste, Osijek, Kroatien (2020). Seine Werke wurden unter anderem in der Galerie Kunsthal Charlottenborg (DK), im Arsenale von Venedig (IT), beim Aesthetica Short Film Festival (UK), beim Jerusalem Film Festival (IL), beim Video Art & Experimental Film Festival (US), im Nikola Tesla Technical Museum (HR), in der Bolton Museum Gallery (UK), in der Cello Factory Gallery (UK) und im Steinhardt Museum of Natural History (IL) ausgestellt.
